Trainers Edge Part 1
Where: Oakland Presbyterian Church in Rock Hill (421 Oakland Avenue, Rock Hill, SC 29730)
When: April 25, 2026 - 8:00 am - 12:30 pm
This course is designed to help Scouts and Scouters, regardless of their training experience, identify effective training methods for a variety of purposes. It will help freshen up the skills of current Scouting America trainers, as well. The skills and strategies presented here have been shown to improve teaching and learning - and will be of value to you, not only in your role in Scouting, but also in the way that you communicate with others.

IOLS - Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills
48 maximum participation
Times: Saturday 8:00 am - Sunday 12:00 pm
Participants are immersed in the Patrol Method in this hands-on training session. The goal of this course is to provide a working model of the boy-led troop learning many of the basic Scouting skills needed to attain the rank of First Class Scout. Adult leaders will experience skills instruction via the EDGE method in the context of a weekend campout with the troop, all wrapped up in plenty of Scout Spirit! This course is required of all direct contact leaders registered in Scouts BSA Troops in order to wear the Trained patch, and is a prerequisite for Wood Badge.
BALOO - Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation
48 maximum participants
Cost: $35/person
Times: Saturday 8:00 am - Sunday 12:00 pm
It is required that Packs have at least one leader present on any outdoor camping trip for Cubs and Webelos with this training.
Wilderness First Aid Training
When: May 2-3, 2026
Where: GOLS
Learn how to be prepared for unforeseen circumstances in this hands-on wilderness first aid training. During this two-day course you will learn the Patient Assessment System, how to provide effective first aid treatments for common outdoor injuries and illnesses, and how to make appropriate evacuation decisions. Instruction will take place both indoors and outdoors regardless of weather, be prepared for any condition. Course completion results in a Wilderness First Aid certification.
Participants are encouraged to bring materials to take notes with, extra layers, and changes of clothes. A complete packing list will be sent out to registered participants prior to the training. Special effects makeup will be used and may stain clothing.
