Join us on our designated Adventure Days which offer opportunities to learn from historians, see exhibits, watch authentic reenactments, explore the site, and complete passport questions. Or visit the Historical site on your own schedule and at your own pace
Historic Brattonsville
The Revolutionary War Adventure Day has passed, but you are welcome to visit Historic Brattonsville anytime to complete your patch requirements!
Step back in time at Historic Brattonsville, where history doesn’t just come alive, it surrounds you. Wander through a preserved 18th-century village and experience live, authentic reenactments that bring the Revolutionary War to life right before your eyes. From blacksmithing to battlefield storytelling, you’ll see how people truly lived, worked, and fought for freedom on this very ground.

June 7th - Kings Mountain Military Park
Discover the site that changed everything at Kings Mountain National Military Park. Known as the “turning point of success,” this battlefield marks a decisive Patriot victory that shifted the momentum of the war.
During Adventure Day, explore authentic materials, weapons, tools, and equipment used by soldiers on the mountain. Walk the same ground, and immerse yourself in the strategy, grit, and determination that helped shape a nation.

June 13th - Walnut Grove Plantation
At Walnut Grove Plantation, history becomes a hands-on experience. This beautifully preserved site offers engaging learning opportunities for all ages, where you can explore colonial life through interactive demonstrations and storytelling. This is a unique opportunity to learn about the time period through the eyes of enslaved Africans. .
Adventure Day here is perfect for curious minds—step into the daily lives of early settlers and discover how ordinary people played extraordinary roles in America’s fight for independence.

July 11th - Catawba Cultural Center
Please register ahead of time! Registration for this event closes on 7/8.
Participants will explore the Catawba Cultural Center Museum and the historic Yehasuri Trail. A special, guided sneak peak of the not yet open Palisade living village will be included in the day's events where visitors will learn about Catawba lifeways and involvement int he Revolutionary War. Please note that photographs will be taken for use in future promotional efforts. Please complete the waiver located to the right side of this page and bring it with you or you can complete on-site. If you do not wish to be photographed please reach out to Justin.Williams@Scouting.org.

For Primitive Camping: Troops will need to contact Andrew Jackson State Park directly at 803-285-3344. (Note: It is a half mile hike to water or restrooms).

July 26th - Cowpens National Battlefield
Stand where history was made at Cowpens National Battlefield—one of the most important Revolutionary War sites in the South. This is where a brilliant Patriot victory helped turn the tide of the war.
On Adventure Day, you can walk the actual battlefield, follow scenic trails, and experience the landscape exactly as soldiers once did. It’s not just a visit—it’s a powerful journey into the past where strategy, courage, and history come together.

AUGuest 1st - Andrew Jackson State Park
Discover the roots of a future president at Andrew Jackson State Park, where Revolutionary War history meets the early life of one of America’s most influential figures. Set on the site believed to be Andrew Jackson’s boyhood home, this park offers a unique glimpse into the frontier world that shaped him during a time of conflict and change. It’s the perfect place to connect the past to the people who lived it—and to see how the Revolution helped shape the leaders of tomorrow.
(Originally Scheduled for July 11th) Anyone is welcome to enjoy a visit to Andrew Jackson State Park, on July 11th as previously planned, but there will not be any special activities occurring. Use this day as a wonderful way to enjoy nature and learn a little bit of history. (Please note that a Palmetto Council staff member will not be on site at Andrew Jackson State Park on July 11th.)

Camping July 31- Aug 1: Wake up after a fun night of camping, and join us in the main park area where special events will be taking place in honor of the Revolutionary War Adventure Day! There will be reenactments, and authentic activities that you will not want to miss out on!

How it works
Step 1: Join us at any or all of the six Revolutionary War Adventure days
Step 2: Get your passport
Obtain a physical booklet at a Revolutionary War Adventure Day or from the Palmetto Council scout shop located at 420 S. Church St Spartanburg, SC 29306 (While supplies last).

Step 3: Reflect on your experience
Answer the questions in the passport for each historical site.
All listed questions must be answered to qualify for that site’s patch.
Participants should retain their passport booklet for their records.
Step 4: Complete a Meaningful Community Service Project
Participants must complete a service project that gives back to their community. This can be completed individually or in a group. There is no minimum amount of hours required, but we encourage you to spend enough time to make a meaningful impact.
Service hours must be logged here.
Completion of the community service project will be recognized with the Commemorative America250 patch.
Step 5: Order Your Patches
Patches can be obtained in 3 ways:
Pick them up at each Revolutionary War Adventure Day.
Buy them at the Palmetto Council Scout Shop located at 420 S. Church St Spartanburg, SC 29306.
Order them online here (each locations patch will be added to this page as the Revolutionary War Days occur. All Patches will be available by August 26th)
