Just rec'd notice of the Canoeing Camp. Sounds like a great idea. Only problem I see is that most of the boys who will eligible might also be in the OA. The OA has a scheduled Ordeal, at Camp Bob Hardin, for August 8-10. Is the planner of the event aware of this; and will this create a problem? Wm. Roy Cloninger Troop 180, Lancaster |

| Way to go for noticing this conflict. I would like to be a part of the camp, but do not want to miss Ordeal. |

I wanted to point out that not only is their a conflict for the Scouts having to make a choice between the two events; but also the conflict between two groups using the same Bob Hardin facilities the same weekend. This may or may not be a conflict depending on the Canoe Camp schedule; but the OA uses the dining hall extensively for program, meetings, and of course meals. The Summer Ordeal in August is typically one of the OA's bigger events due to the number of new Scouts being inducted after the Tapout ceremonies at Summer Camp. Also, the schools are not back in session, so more Scouts are availiable. I'm not quite sure how you could serve them both simultaneously in the dining hall, (given that the OA plans and budgets its own meals); or how you could separate them either??? WRC |

| Sorry about the Voyageur Canoe Camp occurring the same weekend as OA Summer Ordeal. We always try not to schedule 2 events for the same weekend. We'll miss those OA members who are at Summer Ordeal. But, for this year, this time frame is the best of the compromises which had to be made. Thank you for your interest. Hopefully next year you'll be able to come canoeing with us. |

| As I have gone through ordeal myself, I realize how much of the camp is utilized. However, both groups will be able to use the camp without conflict because canoe camp will be in and out of camp on Tues, Weds, Thurs, and then leave for the long float trip on Friday morning. Further, we don't return to camp for parental pick up until Sunday at 4PM. As I remember ordeal weekend schedule, we will not in any way conflict with Ordeal. |

I understand...there are just not enough days in the year! But, I am happy to see we don't have a conflict over the facilities. Last August, we had a full camp with all the inductees plus the regular members. WRC |
